What happens

In Trinidad at sunset, bright-red scarlet ibis fill a mangrove tree like Christmas ornaments. Oilbirds click-click-click to find their way in the dark, and a leatherback, the biggest turtle in the world, slowly crawls up the beach (watched from a respectful distance).

Fun facts

  • Leatherback turtles can be as long as a small car.
  • Oilbirds click to find their way in dark caves.
  • Scarlet ibis get their red colour from the crabs they eat.
